Amateur Radio Talk At ILP Nibong Tebal, Penang

I've been to Penang for 2 days to attend Amateur Radio Talk at Institut Latihan Perindustrian, Nibong Tebal, Pulau Pinang organized by V60 Penang Community. Have a great time there, met lots of new friends. To 9W2ART, 9M2LR, 9W2ACY, 9W2RAY, 9W2AZV, 9W2VAD, 9W2OZY, Encik Halim ( from ILP Nibong Tebal ) and all V60ers ( sorry to anyone that i didnt mention your name here ) thanks for everything especially to 9W2ART. Hope to meet you all again someday and feel free to make a contact on MARTS linked repeaters.

My New 146Mhz Slim Jim Antenna

I have successfully made an antenna for my daily use using slim jim diagram for 146mhz connected to ICOM 2200H mobile rig powered by computer power supply unit (PSU). Now i can trigger all nearby repeaters and simplex channel too. For your information, this slim jim antenna made from house's electric cable, 15mm PVC pipe and 10 feet steel pipe for the pole. Refer to 9W2WTF's blog for further information.

p/s: Thanks to 9W2WTF for everything and 9W2AZV for the signal report.

Slim Jim Antenna Diagram For Amateur Radio

very helpful to me, maybe for you all too. You can design slim jim antenna and j-pole by using this web calculator. I'm thinking of home brewing, but not now. maybe someday, when i got the spirit of MacGyver into me ;-). well, thanks to 9W2WTF for inspiring me a lot about this hobby.

p/s: I'm not good on hand drawing. i beg your pardon.

Slim Jim & J-Pole Antenna Calculator By M0UKD

The Slim Jim is a vertically polarized omnidirectional end-fed antenna having considerable "gain" and this is concentrated almost parallel to ground toward the horizon rather than skyward making it more efficient than a ground plane type antenna by about 50 percent better. It can be built for almost any frequency.
Slim Jim antenna as the variation of the J-pole, which is related to the J-pole as the way a folded dipole is related to a dipole. Invented by Fred Judd(G2BCX), the name was derived from its slim construction and the J type matching stub (J Integrated Matching).

The Real Beauties Of Ham Radio

The beauties of ham radio is too subjective. Beauties on ham radio is indescribable. The passion is the real beauty.

Morse Code History

Seriously,  i dont know about Alfred Vail until i found this video.

Learn CW Military Way Videos

All ham operator should watch these video, and take note what we should do and what we shouldn't do in cw from military past mistakes. Videos from US Military, very inspiring me ;-)

ElectronHelper - Calculator And Reference Tool For Mac OSX

Tool for the electronic hobbyist. It's a calculator and a reference tool all in one. Resistor will determine the value of an electronic resistor and Ohm's Law is a Ohm's Law calculator. Very useful for those little electronic projects.

Ohmaid - Resistor Calculator For Mac OSX

Ohmaid is a freeware program for Mac OS X which calculates the resistance of a 4 or 5 band resistor based on the color code. A color code chart is included for reference.

QuickYagi - Yagi Modelling Software By WA7RAI

WA7RAI wrote this yagi modeling program in 1990. Despite being written for MS DOS, it is surprisingly user friendly, highly accurate, and is loaded with features.  Although this program is free of charge, please make a donation to help maintain this website so he can continue to keep it available to the Ham Radio community.
QuickYagi features include:
  • Folded dipole option
  • Models tapered elements
  • Auto design and auto optimize
  • VSWR, gain, and F/B bandwidth graphs
  • Choice of US foot-inch or int'l metric input/output
  • Elevation, azimuth, and bandwidth pattern polar plots

RF Toolbox - Antenna Designing Software

RF Toolbox is an antenna design and electronics/electrical tool package. It takes you step by step through the design of the following types of antennas:

  • Dipole
  • Fat Dipole
  • Yagi
  • J-Pole
  • Super J-Pole
  • Log Periodic
  • Cubic Quad
  • Vertical
  • helical
It also performs the following calculations:
  • Transmission Line Calculator
  • Coil Design
  • LC Filter Design
  • Transmission Line Loss
  • L Matching Networks
  • Pi Matching Networks
  • Impedance Calculations
  • Wire Gauge and Resistance and Voltage Drop
  • Wire Inductance Calculations

With the transmission line calculator, you can select the type of line, length, operating frequency, and calculate the losses, as well as the SWR and losses from SWR due to impedance mismatch. The load impedance can also be calculated from the measured impedance at the line input.

Malaysian Spectrum Allocations Chart From MCMC

This chart is based on the current ITU Radio Regulation 2008. Download it and print, put it on your base station for reference.

APRS/CE - APRS Client For Windows Mobile PDA

APRS/CE allows you to display maps showing the real-time location of both your station (if GPS equipped) and various other APRS stations on your Windows CE device. It also allows you to do two-way, real-time text messaging to stations. Try it for free!

I only have world map for aprs/ce. still learning how to make Malaysia's map for this mobile application.

APRS is used by amateur (ham) radio operators to transmit real-time position information, weather data, telemetry and messages over the radio. A vehicle equipped with a GPS receiver, a VHF transmitter or HFtransceiver and a small computer device called a tracker transmits it's location, speed and course in a small data packet, which is then received by a nearby iGate receiving site which forwards the packet on the Internet. Systems connected to the Internet can send information on the APRS-IS without a radio transmitter, or collect and display information transmitted anywhere in the world.
